Privacy Policy

OverlandingWorld is a community-maintained directory of overlanding places. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

What we collect

• Submission data: when you submit a listing, badge, or photo, we collect the data you enter (title, description, coordinates, contact info, photos) plus your name and email so we can reach you about your submission.
• Account data (admins only): email + hashed password stored by Supabase Auth.
• Usage analytics: privacy-friendly page-view counts and Core Web Vitals via Vercel Analytics + Speed Insights. No cookies are set for analytics; no personal data is collected.
• Server logs: standard HTTP access logs (IP, user-agent, path, status) retained ≤ 14 days. We rate-limit submissions by IP using these logs.

What we do not collect

• Tracking or advertising cookies.
• Third-party trackers (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.).
• Cross-site activity outside OverlandingWorld.

How we use your data

• To display approved submissions in the public directory.
• To contact you about your submission (clarification, edits, removal).
• To prevent abuse via rate limiting.
• To improve the site through aggregate analytics.

Where your data lives

Listings, badges, and photos live in our Supabase Postgres database (hosted on AWS). Photos sit in Supabase Storage (also AWS). Hosting is on Vercel. Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap contributors and are loaded directly by your browser; OpenStreetMap may log standard tile requests.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any data tied to a submission email by contacting hello@overlandingworld.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

OverlandingWorld is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced on the homepage. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
