Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the directory, the submission flow, and how we curate.
Is OverlandingWorld free to use?
Yes — browsing the directory, reading guides, and adding places are all completely free. No subscription, no paywall, no ads.
How do I add a place to the directory?
Click "Add a Place" in the top navigation. You'll need a free account so we can credit your contribution and contact you if reviewers have questions. Submissions are reviewed before they go live, usually within 24 to 48 hours.
What kind of places does it cover?
Anything an overlander might need: campgrounds, informal campsites, mechanics, fuel stations, water and dump stations, showers, laundry, hostels, border crossings, customs offices, vehicle insurance, propane refills, EV charging, tire shops, markets, restaurants, viewpoints, and more.
Which countries are in the directory?
It's a global directory — every country is supported. Coverage density grows fastest where overlanders submit the most places, but the goal is full worldwide coverage.
Who reviews the submissions?
A small team of human moderators reviews every listing before publication. We check for accurate location, real photos, no spam, and a useful description. We don't auto-approve, and we don't accept AI-generated filler.
How can I report an incorrect or outdated listing?
Every listing page has a "Report" button. Tell us what's wrong (closed, moved, wrong category, bad photo, etc.) and a moderator will follow up. You can also flag duplicates the same way.
